Hello you people :D
So today i had an idea
and this idea that i had
will take us on a journey
a journey through the years
and we see on our journey
all the great anime of the past up until now
and choice which anime were the best of each year
sounds fun:D
Okay first thing
i will not be starting at the first year of anime
i will start this journey at 1998
since thats when i was born ;D
also i am picking out the best anime of each year
i will try to not be bias but i might slip up once or twice
another thing
just because an anime was the most hyped for a given year
does not make it the best of that year
P.S. if there are more then one great anime during a year there will be some honorable mentions for each year
Alright lets do this
following this part will be some of the best anime ever and you as a fan of anime should of seen each on the anime that will be chosen as the best
got it?
good
1998: Cowboy Bebop
Thumbnail

While 1998 saw the release of the great trigun, the mindfuck Serial Experiment Lane, and the childhood card show Yu-gi-oh, none of them could compare to Cowboy Bebop. With its cool jazz opening to lovable characters and engaging story Cowboy Bebop had everything. When i say everything, i mean it. It even had a instant classic and one of a kind dub. This anime is still held at such high esteem and beloved by many.
Honorable Mentions: the formally mentioned, Trigun,
Serial Experiment Lane,
and Yu-Gi-Oh
1999: One Piece
Thumbnail

While researching i was surprised how many good anime came out in 1999. Now while this is personally not my choice the best anime to come out in 1999 is in fact One Piece. One Piece was the first(second is you count DBZ) big shonen to come and take over. In fact it might still be on top. The anime has some many followers and fans that its been able to survive and keep air to this very day. New episodes are still coming out! Is that crazy or what.

Honorable Mentions: Blue Gender,
Hunter x Hunter,
Now and Then, Here and Now,
and Digimon Adventures ;P
2000: Boogiepop Phantom
Thumbnail

Now 2000 was hard to pick, mainly because i have seen anything from it and nothing super great, or as far as i know from what came out that year. But that doesn't mean there wasn't any good ones. One would be Boogiepop Phantom. So I did some research on it and will tell you what i know. A supernatural thriller that forces you to think. Its duel colors and haunting music can make anyone shiver in fear. Check it out.

Honorable Mentions: Argento Soma(while researching that one interested me the most)
2001: Spirited away and Jin-Roh
Thumbnail

Thumbnail

Okay i know right now you might be thinking i broke some rules, i kinda did. As you can see i picked to bests and they are movies. Well an anime movie is still anime so get over it, it counts. And i picked two because it was a movie and a movie and not anywhere near as long as a show so i though tow would be better. Alright with that cleared up i must say that 2001 was the year of the anime movies. There was little to no note worth shows but the movies were awesome. Now i will not tell you to much about Spirited away and Jin-Roh. Because to any who haven't seen them i would hate to spoil. Just watch them. But keep in mind that Spirit away is more of a kids movie will Jin-Ruh is rated R, i think you might be able to guess which one i like more.

Honorable Movie :D Mentions: Cowboy Bebop the Movie,
Millennium Actress,
and Metropolis
2002: Naruto
Thumbnail

OOOOOHH NOOOO!!! Another over hyped shonen! How is this crap the best of this year!! Do you even know what came out this year!! Oh shut up, if you have seen Naruto you know why it won. But just to please those ragers Naruto Shippuden will not win its years since Naruto won here. First off this show has one heck of a legacy, starting in 2002 and the manga just finishing with the anime soon to follow, this anime has left its mark. People grew up with Naruto and watched him struggle but still, never give up. They watched him go through heart break, broken friendships, and defeat. But then they also watched him save his town and go from being hated to loved, they watch him grow and get married and then watch his kids watch their journey. While not liked by everyone due to its filler and just over hyped-ness this anime is one of the best of all time and will be remember like the other greats before it(did i fanboy to hard)

Honorable Mentions: Mobile Suit Gundam SEED,
Chobits,
Princess Tutu,
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex(go watch this one)
.hack//Sign
and Full Metal Panic
2003: Wolf's Rain
Thumbnail

Yes i know Fullmetal Alchemist came out this year, calm yourself you will see it again. Anyway Wolf's Rain in one heck of a ride. With a unique story and great animation for its time Wolf's Rain stood above most of the other anime in 2003. Now one thing anyone must know if you plan on watching this anime. It brings the feels. So be ready for that.

Honorable Mentions: Fullmetal Alchemist,
Last Exile,
Gungrave,
Gunslinger Girl,
and Chrono Crusade
2004: Bleach
Thumbnail

Alright you mainstream haters, here is the last of the big three. Stop raging. Now Bleach unlike the other two big ones has finished sadly, its manga continues and maybe a future anime will come out and continue where the old one left of. Either way, Bleach is a sweet anime. Filled with cool characters and cool weapons Bleach is uzzing coooool. Not only that but it has dub almost liked more then its sub, which is unheard of. Bleach my not have a legacy like Naruto or is as loved as One Piece but it goes to places though two don't. It explores the spirits and all that brings. If one is to skip the fillers Bleach isn't to unbearably long and i would definitely recommend a watch.

Honorable Mentions: Desert Punk,
Elfen Lied,
Gankutsuo: The Count of Monte Cristo,
Monster(WATCH THIS!!!),
and Samurai Champloo
2005: Eureka Seven
Thumbnail

The anime can be summed up in one word. Master Piece. This anime has to be one of the sweetest anime out there. Its story is so nice and peaceful and at other times it gets dark and really digs into the depths. The anime is visual stunning for its day and still looks good now with all its amazing color. For first look you probably can't tell that this is a love story. One of the best i might add. While the show can be slow its totally worth it sitting through and just flowing with the show.

Honorable Mentions: Genesis of Aquarion,
Blood+,
and Basilisk
2006: Code Geass
Thumbnail

Picking for 2006 was soooooo hard. It was filled with some great, and i mean great anime. One of which and probably the biggest contender to Code Geass is Death Note. Its rival anime. So why did i choose Code Geass? For two reasons. One is while both main characters had there haters the main to Death Note was way more hated Then Lelouch is. Also the ending to Death Note is not to good at all in most opinions. While Code Geass's ending is regarded as one of the best. Thats why Code Geass was chosen. Now Code Geass is just a genus anime. Its story flows so well and always has your attention. Its characters are great with all-star voice actors for its dub making it easy to get new anime fans into. It has probably the best anime anti-hero being the main character lelouch. The shows ending is still something that people talk about a debate today. Lastly Code Geass has two really note worthy Openings, Opening 1 COLORS amd Opening 5 WORLD END. The show is almost flawless and thats on top of its crazy development story. A must watch anime before you die.

Honorable Mentions: Death Note,
D. Gray-man,
Black Lagoon,
Ergo Proxy,
The Familiar of Zero,
GinTama,
Ouran High School Host Club,
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya,
Bartender,
and Welcome to the NHK
2007: Baccano!
Thumbnail

This pick might of come as a surprise to most of you. You might be thinking. What is Baccano!? How did it win??!! Well i will tell you. While Baccano! is not the most popular anime from 2007 it is defiantly one of the best. A hidden gem. Baccano! did what many shows can't. It left you with all its questions answered. So if you watch this anime and start out confused, no worries. You will be fine. Other things that make this anime great is its story or stories. It follows three stories all with different characters but all based in USA cities at around 1930. The show is able to swap from story to story so well. Along with its stories is the shows great cast of characters. All were likable except for the ones the shows clearly didn't want you to like. There were two characters in particular that have to be mentioned. Issac and Miria is their names. These two need to be given the best side characters ever award. Any scene they were in became ten times better. Baccano! is one of those shows that really has nothing wrong with it and everyone likes for the most part.

Honorable Mentions: Gurran Lagann,
and Afro Samurai
2008: Toradora
Thumbnail

TSUNDERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!......... yep, if you didn't know what Toradora is you do now. It has THE Tsundere. Trust me, just search tsundere on google and you will see a ton of Taiga pictures. Okay Tsundere's aside Toradora is great. A great show with great characters and a great love story, and if you like tsundere's its even better. If you are fan of the romance genre you have to watch Toradora, its one of the best.

Honorable Mentions: Black Butler,
Casshern Sins,
A Certain Magical Index,
Soul Eater,
and Spice and Wolf
2009: Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood
Thumbnail

I told you all it would be back, but this time its better. Okay if you really did not know this would e here you should watch more anime so that you can actually be called a fan(kidding). Anyway FMAB is the remake we didn't really need but are super happy to have. This time around the story follows the manga pleasing the die hard FMA fans. Not much can be said about this anime other then gooo watch it. This one anime is rightfully so in the running for best anime ever. I would tell you more but i am sure you know of its many praises.

Honorable Mentions: Darker then Black,
Fairy Tail,
and A Certain Scientific Railgun
2010: Durarara
Thumbnail

A lot can be said about this series. You can talk about its characters its story, its setting. And you can go on for a long time. But i will keep it short and sweet for you. This is a very enjoyable show with a good set of characters voiced by an all-star cast in both sub and dub. The art style is slightly unique and the show is always making you want more. Seasons of this show are still airing so its never to late to start it. Which is what you should do.

Honorable Mentions: Baka and Test,
Maid-sama!,
and Shiki
2011: Fate/Zero
Thumbnail

It should be common knowledge by know that i love the crap out of the Fate Series. But there is good reason. This anime was one of them. Now as you can see it came out in 2011, a pretty awesome year for anime, so many great anime came out it was so hard picking and i know i will get some mean comments on this year. But i picked Fate/Zero and now i will tell you why it was the best of the year. First no fan-service(little bit of man service though) why is this a good thing? It made it clear that this show is for the mature, and boy does it stick to that. This shows story is dark and gritty as you watch the characters all battle to the death. Which is a shame seeing that pretty much every character is likable and you want them to win but you have no idea if they will. This anime does a good job at not making it clear on who the main character is or who the true bad guy is for the first half of the show. I could go on about the story but i wouldn't want to hit spoiler territory. This show also hits gold in its animation. When it aired it was without a doubt the best looking anime made and is still one of the best out there. Its fight scenes are beautiful and the music that goes with it is epic. If you are looking for a good anime thats not to light hearted then this anime is the best thing out there.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica,
Anohana,
Persona 4,

Thumbnail

Let me be honest, i haven't seen Psycho Pass. But i have heard soooo many good things and its reviews are always so high that i had to pick it. But to keep this from being really short let me tell you what i know about the show. One its beautiful. Stunning animation. Two its set in the future and has a real unique plot element to it that i will not go into do to my lack of knowledge about the anime. All i can say now is that i know i am going to watch it soon and you should to because people will tell you. Its worth the watch.

Honorable Mentions: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure,
K,
Say "I Love You",
BTOOOM!,
Magi,
Sword Art Online,
and Kokoro Connect
2013: Attack on Titan
Thumbnail

The anime that took over the world. I am aware that there are people who are not fans of this anime. But can they really argue that this anime was not the best of this year. This was 2013 almost. Everyone knew about it and almost everyone was watching it. And i would say for good reason. This anime might not live up to allllllllllll the hype it got. No anime could live up to that much hype.... But this was a great anime. It has some cool and unique animation and the way it handles the 3D gear is just perfect. Its music is some of the best and as much crap as the characters they are a good set for the show its trying to be. If you haven't seen this anime yet you need to.

Honorable Mentions: Kill la Kill,
Tokyo Ravens,
Log Horizon,
My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU,
and Free!
2014: Tokyo Ghoul
Thumbnail

So its getting harder to pick what the best anime of the years are the closer we get to the present the fresher the anime are in peoples minds and the more hate i will probably get. So after thinking about that i had to come to a pick. And Tokyo Ghoul was the best of 2014. Say what you wait about the show. Its had a following and die hard fan base for a reason. The show was fantastic. It had an interesting story and some sick ass characters. Its animation was great and that opening was so good it could save lives. Its a short anime that has a second season if you wish to watch it and a third season on the way.

2015: Death Parade
Thumbnail

I know i know, how could i not choice One Punch Man? I mean it was the most popular! Yes but it wasn't the best. The best was Death Parade and here is why. First off the animation, wonderful, and there eyes are sooooo nice looking. Second its idea is extremely unique. Thirdly the characters are all great, not just the main but each episode brings in new side characters with their own emotional stories. Each episode is down so well its just amazing. As you might of already guessed this is a feels show, almost the entire time. But thats what makes it great. Also did i mention that opening :D just go watch it.
