The Current State of Things – What’s next? 1 – Prelude -------------------------------------------------------- This is a story about the history of KA. This story shall be called “The fall of KissAnime”, and it shall be about the start of KA Disqus until today. DISCLAIMER: I will insult literally EVERYONE, so don’t feel offended. In fact if you get mentioned, feel happy knowing that I at least acknowledge your existence in what is the largest collection of KA events. At the end I will provide a list of people that kept their dignity, and those that didn’t. Spoilers, almost no one kept their dignity. Now onto the story. -------------------------------------------------------- Act I: The decline of a once great website -------------------------------------------------------- 2 – Origins of Disqus – A peaceful era -------------------------------------------------------- Once upon a time there was a beautiful anime website known as KA. KA had a lot of anime and offered them in HD with a YouTube player. It even had very funny Facebook comments! When our protagonist Meteor was in a phase of his life where he did nothing but play videogames and procrastinate, he found a hobby called anime. He quickly started watching and loving anime. He would always read the Facebook comments and want to make comments as well, but on the other hand he also disliked having other websites connected to his Facebook. Therefore he never made comments. But on August 8, 2014 KA implemented a new comment system called Disqus. Here Meteor could make his own account and make comments. Therefore Meteor started making comments in the main pages of his favorite anime. Meteor then discovered that there was a list of top commenters. After making only 10 comments, his name was already on that list. The top commenter was a girl known as Vivid who always made funny and clever comments, and the same applied to the other 2nd, 3rd, and 4th TCs, Kuromi, Davis and Kirito Guya. There was also a Latino known as Kazuto, and a few other commenters. They were all nice people who made clever comments except for this guy called Yuin Yi who always made weird comments. There was also a cool guy called Joey Rothwell who always made very clever comments. A few honorable mentions are Alae Mahdoud who made regular comments, nothing special but never cancerous. Also Akashi Seijuro who was always a bit of a casual when it comes to his taste in anime, but was a guy who never did anything that made him worthy of hate or even dislike. Thomas Barnett also made several nice comments and had the same profile for the entirety of his Disqus life. Same applies to Richard Lee who had the top comment in SAO II which is an excessively popular anime. He also made nice comments and never did anything worth of hate. Everyone made funny and clever comments. Since there were so few comments, people wanted to seem smart and funny, so they would think twice before posting. The amount of comments posted were so little that when Vivid reached 100 comments everyone was in shock. There were also two mods, AkterSnurra and Aikatsuyuri. AkterSnurra didn’t say much and followed the simple mod rules: Ban Spoilers, and links to other websites. Aika was very different. Aika made normal posts and interacted with people, and even made funny posts when banning someone in order to be special and different from the normal mods which gave a feel of proximity with respect between the users and the moderators. Everyone happily chatted about anime, and it was all about discussing the anime and making good jokes. Everything was perfect. While everyone wanted to be in the top 20 commenters, no one really cared about it that much. But about 3 weeks into Disqus in KA a destructive force began to lurk… 3 – The start of a problem – Kirito Guya -------------------------------------------------------- The best part about KA was also its worst part. While the TC page made those on it happy, there was a problem with it. It stirred up competition between them. The rankings were based on the amount of comments rather than upvoters. While Vivid had been able to maintain her position as the queen of KA, she still made clever and funny comments. But the competition for the Top Commenter spots was filled with backstabbing. A certain TC decided that he was not content with simply being a TC. He wanted to be the TC, not just any TC. This man’s name was Kirito Guya. He began making many comments. Lots of spam. He would make very large conversations with another TC known as Ramzan Akikhiko. These conversations consisted entirely of “Indeed.” Instead of giving regular upvotes, Guya would instead make an actual comment saying “Indeed.” And he would do this every time. Despite Vivid’s hard work and attempt at making several clever comments, her 200 comments were surpassed by Guya in a matter of 2 days, who went from over 150 comments to over 400 comments. Guya became the king of KA with a massive advantage. Almost as if all other users were insignificant. But soon after Guya’s spamming spree, he got banned. Surprisingly, Guya was not banned for spamming but rather for making a comment that was mistaken for a spoiler. Guya made another account, but he had lost all his reputation. And after his ban he wanted to become a good boy. This was finally the chance for the old TCs to regain their former glory. They began posting several comments again, leaving Vivid and Kuromi at the top with over 1000 comments. Everything was back to being the good old KA we all knew and loved. 4 – A new problem – Guilty Bios -------------------------------------------------------- But unfortunately that did not last long. Soon after came a new spammer, Guilty Bios. Compared to Bios, Guya was nothing. In a matter of days, Bios climbed to the top with over 1200 upvotes. But unlike Guya who simply spammed, Bios legitimately had no life. He made massive paragraphs and comments about oppai and wanting to have sex with anime girls. He was the very definition of Weeaboo. Aika got mad at Bios for spamming, and soon after killed him ruthlessly. But soon after Bios made another account, and that one also got banned. And Bios still did not know what he had been banned for. As you can see, Bios is not very bright. Even after that Bios got banned 1 or 2 more times. He got banned so many times it’s pretty hard to keep count. 5 – The new TCs – Kayden, Nom, Ella, Sylar, Tatsuya, and Synergy -------------------------------------------------------- At about this time a bunch of other TCs started coming in. A weeaboo kid named Kayden, a curry muncher called Nomzer, someone who at first everyone thought was a guy but was actually a girl called Ella, a sociopath called Sylar, a guy who went by the name of Mahouka’s MC, Tatsuya Shiba, and a normal alright guy called Synergy. They were all nice, and decided to call their group the “Chibi Crew” and they changed all their avatars to chibi pics. But a problem with them soon started to arise. They would make incredibly long chains of private conversations. Some were funny, and most people didn’t really care. But many felt left out and others complained that their long conversations prevented people from having productive discussions, or that it was annoying to always see the same TCs getting the top comment and making very long chains of inside jokes. So Aika told them to figure out another way to talk with each other. Thus they created a Skype group where they could talk to each other without bothering anyone else. After praising one of Sylar’s comments, Meteor also got invited to this group, which gave Meteor a more objective view of the current state of the community he once loved. Meteor became less active and started hanging out with these TCs on Skype often. 6 – The disappearance of the greatest TC – The death of Vivid, the Queen of KA -------------------------------------------------------- After all this mess, the previous TCs were borderline dead. Vivid was down to rank 6. By the fall season Vivid commented on a few episodes of Twintails, then pretty much became inactive. Vivid’s inactivity can very well be said to signalize the demise of the community. The times when Vivid was active were the best parts of KA, the times where she became inactive were the bumps along the way, and the time when she retired symbolizes the KA snowball effect, where everything after that point is KA at the point of no return, way below the negative values of the graph and on a continuous steep decline into the crappy KA it is today. The once Queen of KA retired from the website. Vivid left the community before it became crap, kept her dignity, and to this day is still respected by the KA pioneers such as Meteor and Kazuto. 7 – The Rebirth of a problem - Return of Guya -------------------------------------------------------- But an already dead problem began to come back from the dead. Kirito Guya. Guya came back from the dead even worse than before he died. He still spammed but was less obvious than before. However this time around he would be extremely perverted and post comments about Oppai in almost every single comment section. He would also use blanks to upvote himself, and people soon began to hate him. Tatsuya Shiba called Guya out on using blanks and the rest of the Chibi Crew joined in against him and blanking in general. After a very serious talk with Aika Guya stopped, but the effect of his spam and perverted comments are not to be underestimated. Today Guya is far less active. Any comments he makes are in anime he decides to marathon and not in ongoing anime. He now mostly keeps to himself playing crappy VNs, watching hentai, and occasionally popping up on skype. While Guya no longer does shit, his impact on the deterioration of the community was large. He has redeemed himself to an extent however. He now makes decent comments when he does make them, and actually complains about how the majority of comments are AIDS. Basically Guya learned the error of his ways, and changed for the better. Basically Guya went from alright, to bad, to alright, to deplorable, to alright again. And he probably will never go down in terms of respect again, since he doesn’t really do anything worthy of hate nowadays. 8 – The turning point – The birth of anger in Aika and Meteor, and the first batch of new mods -------------------------------------------------------- Two people also began to change: Meteor and Aika. They were both beginning to get angry at the state of the community. It was no longer the paradise it used to be. It had become crap. So crap in fact that the other communities called people in the KA community “KA fags”. With this Meteor turned himself into a self-proclaimed savior of the community. He decided that he would begin to start arguments. The website was called Disqus, so why didn’t people discuss as the name suggested? He would insult the horny teenagers for taking advantage of internet anonymity to make horny messages and insult those who had crap taste. He became so angry that he started insulting people simply for liking Akame ga Kill. Aika also changed. Aika was getting tired of the spamming and the trouble it was giving him. Aika constantly had spam in the flag inbox, and people would flag those that they wanted to see banned. Aika was cornered. Aika had no other choice but to get more mods. So Aika got 4 more mods: Ella, Synergy, Raiyah, and some other guy who never really did anything. But Aika was still far more irritable than before. Aika became far more ruthless. The mods did their job well. They did what they were supposed to: Delete spoilers, links to anime websites, spamming, and flame/insulting (notice the increase in rules). Ever since the start Ella was always a bit harsh, but she still did her job regardless. 9 – Cancer Incarnate – WickedEye and the aftereffects of the flame war -------------------------------------------------------- Along this time a new man willing to climb the ranks of the top commenters showed up: WickedEye. Out of all the people Meteor had encountered in KA before, this man was by far the one he hated the most. He was like Bios, but much worse. He was also a horny teenager who posted on EVERY anime, but his grammar was extremely cringe-worthy, he would upvote himself with his own account and his guest account, and his posts would be massive as in almost always over 8 lines long. He would also sign “P.S.” like he was writing a letter. Not only that, WickedEye would many times “feed” on the top comment, meaning that he would go to the top comment and make a reply there with whatever comment he wanted to make on the main page, which basically gave him more visibility than if he tried making an actual comment. Does it give him more upvotes? Certainly. Is it cheap as fuck? You bet it is, so many people called the guy on doing this but he still did it despite the loss of dignity. WickedEye was so bad that calling him the clearest example of cancerous comments and lack of dignity on KA would be 100% accurate. So one day Meteor got fed up and insulted him like he never before had insulted anyone. Meteor pointed out every single thing WickedEye did wrong that annoyed him and many others. A massive flame war between WickedEye and Meteor occurred. For anyone interested in seeing the whole thing this happened in Maria the Virgin Witch Sub Ep 1. Filled with supporters and haters, today the comment that started the flame war has 65 likes and over 30 downvotes, more downvotes than any other comment excluding Sylar’s comment in Parasyte Episode 5. This was the first instance of serious KA drama. Intense discussions of people insulting each other and making large posts. Of course this had happened before, but this was on a much larger scale since it was between two of the TCs that everyone knew. After lots of arguing and bashing each other, WickedEye ended it by saying “Hai hai... Well, thank you very much for your kind words and for expressing your "opinion" public or something... I'll try to refrain myself from commenting long "essays" in the future... Sorry for bothering you all that much... just know that I meant zero harm in every comment I made...” But Aika showed up soon after. Aika stopped the flame war immediately with his intimidation methods. This flame war was so bad that Aika talked to Meteor personally on Skype in order to fully intimidate him into never insulting people again. It worked. To reinforce even more how little dignity WickedEye had, it is important to note that several hours after the fight and Aika had stopped it, WickedEye went back and edited his comments. His final reply that I copied here seems relatively harmless does it not? He certainly seems like he would repent after making such a comment. But he did not. He in fact added 14 extra lines worth of counter arguments that were not there before, because he knew Meteor would not retaliate after Aika’s warning. But WickedEye was wrong, for Meteor went to his final comment and made a clear edit without hiding it and called out WickedEye on all the bullshit editing he had done. In fact one will notice that in the original discussion most seem to side with WickedEye at first but near the end most seem to side with Meteor instead. Meteor successfully showed to everyone how cancerous WickedEye was. Meteor stopped arguing for a while. But it was only a matter of time before KA turned into a shitfest. Throughout all this Meteor would only stare at what was happening from afar, while feeling angry at how in the old days he could have told all the KA fags to stop being fags and would receive support, but now he could not. 10 – In-Depth Analysis of the full extent of the AIDS present in KA – The migration of new weeaboos -------------------------------------------------------- What truly turned KA into shit was the influx of new users. This happened mainly in the winter season, the start of 2015. This problem arose from one thing: KA’s high quality videos. Since KA unlike other websites uploads high quality videos, it takes longer to upload them. But many do not realize this. So when they see an episode in one website they assume that it should already be on KA when it shouldn’t. So these idiots of the masses go onto the main page and start spamming heavily and going “When is the episode coming out? It’s already out on *insert other website here*!” This leaves the page with cancerous comments that are complete sh*t! So since KA delays every single episode by at least an hour, these comments almost become the norm. And so these dumb comments about hot girls and oppai become mainstream and most people do it (note how this all goes back to the trend that Guya and Bios started back in the day, and the reinforcement that WickedEye gave it). So the comment sections are filled with crappy posts many of which are unrelated to the anime. The one episode that highlights this more than any other episode was the episode of Parasyte towards the end that contains a sex scene between Shinichi and Murano. This episode only came at the end of the Winter season, but it applies to this section more thus it will be mentioned here. 95% of the comments in that episode were about that one sex scene despite there being a massive fight taking up most of the episode. Most of the episode was the finale of the second most important fight in the entire anime, yet almost everyone was making comments about the sex scene. This is when it became fully evident that KA was filled with horny weeaboos. Even Meteor tried fixing this situation, but instead of getting support for trying to bring the focus of discussion back to the episode rather than just meaningless sex talk, he instead got a sh*t ton of hate and was told to fuck off by most of the weeaboos. He was even told that all his discussions were pointless and that he was NOT the savior of KissAnime that would bring everything back to normal. Meteor was not bothered by this, but was instead bothered by how the users were not even aware of the problem at hand. They thought HE was the problem rather than them. This made Meteor realize that his methods did not work, and never would work. The weeaboos would never understand the problems with the community no matter how much he wrote and poured his anger and emotions onto the keyboard. This realization soon became irrelevant since Meteor was about to be given an ultimatum, but more about that later. One more problem with the upvote system is that the comments that are upvoted are the funny ones. So when the normal users saw this and tried to make their own jokes, many of them just came out plain bad. And many of these users aren’t fluent in English, so these jokes come out bad and with horrible grammar. Either that or they state their opinion in 5-word posts that are very incoherent and have bad grammar. Of course it is not someone’s fault if they are not fluent in English or aren’t very funny, therefore they have just as much of a right as anyone else to make comments. But back in the day these people would have thought a lot harder about their comments. Since the comments were all smart and relatively mature, people felt a need to think about exactly what they were going to post. Since the Top Commenters didn’t make posts about oppai, or said vague dumb shit, people wanted to make posts that were thoughtful, clever, or funny. But after everybody started sh*tposting it spread everywhere and the community became filled with cancerous comments. These new users are not the cause of everything. There are many reasons for why KA became shit, which is why this story is being told in the first place. But the migration of new weeaboos is without a doubt what fully turned KA into aids. -------------------------------------------------------- Act II: Influential Commenters -------------------------------------------------------- 11 – Act II Prelude -------------------------------------------------------- This Act will be about the characters of this story, most of them being the Top Commenters. This is to characterize the characters better so that their dignity can be fully understood when the time of judgment comes. Also a few terms: Pro-KA – User who is helpful to KA by making clever comments. Neutral-KA – to be meh as in “I like you but you do stupid shit”. Anti-KA – to be a negative influence on the community. 12 – Slight rise in the KA decline – Mohyeekage -------------------------------------------------------- One diamond in the rough was Mohyeekage also known as Mohyee. Mohyee always made funny and clever jokes and never spammed. He got along with pretty much everyone and never caused problems. However he eventually got banned for reasons unknown still today. Rumor has it that Kaichou, the admin of KA ended up banning him for some unidentified reason. But his ban was never very impactful or important. Soon after he made another account and his jokes kept going like always. Mohyee never did anything to be hated, and always did things worthy of being liked for his jokes and clever comments and is undoubtedly Pro-KA 13 – A slowly growing tumor – Erodez -------------------------------------------------------- A man who showed up near the middle of the fall season (or at least that was the first time Meteor ever saw him) was Erodez. At first he seemed like a normal guy making normal comments in a time when KA was only at slightly below average. But oh boy would Meteor be wrong. Erodez would end up stirring a lot of trouble and would become very significant in the fall of KA. After a while Meteor began noticing that something was off about Erodez. Many of his comments were AIDS, and he many times bragged about his programming skills. Meteor realized Erodez was straying away from the Neutral-KA position and moving closer to Anti-KA. Meteor could not have been more right. Soon after Erodez started posting dumb comments that were 100% pure unaltered cancerous posts that downgrade the state of the community. Erodez’s comments would have bad grammar, display feelings of teenage hormones or be purely vulgar and sexual (or Erotic, as his name implies), they would often be spam, and many times he would make very long threads by constantly replying to replies. Normally this wouldn’t matter, but due to the downgraded state of the community Ero’s comments would be upvoted and be top comments. So there would be AIDS everywhere! However keep in mind that Erodez was certainly not the worst one. During this time WickedEye (AKA the KA Antichrist) was the shining star, and he would get top comment most of the time. Comparing WickedEye to Erodez is like comparing choking on fecal matter while being tied to a chair and whipped on your bare back, to drinking a cup of rotten milk. They are both bad, but you can tell which is worse. But the worse was when Erodez gathered up a bunch of friends. Oh boy were those conversations massive. They were filled with spam, dumb jokes, inside jokes, and it would piss everybody off to have to scroll through these massive conversations. They would upvote each other, so they would always get top comment. But I will talk about these guys and group upvoting later. 14 – Mystery Hacker – KiritoRape -------------------------------------------------------- KiritoRape(VIRUS). Remind you of Guya? No surprise, that’s the f*cking point. KiritoRape was a series of blanks (AKA fake accounts) that were used to upvote comments to the top and downvote other comments so as to give the top comment to whatever person the hacker wants. This happened one or two times but nobody gave a shit. But one time in Aldnoah season 2 it grabbed a lot of attention. An account called Weeaboos Jones started making comments saying that it would choose the top comment. No one listened. Then he actually did it. Everyone’s reaction was “HORY SHEET!” and they all wanted to know who this hacker was. Ella who was online at the time then proceeded to ban Weeaboo Jones, but Weeaboo Jones came back with one of the KiritoRape accounts, which Ella proceeded to ban. Since Ella could not IP ban back then she instead banned every single KiritoRape account. But she only finished banning them the next morning. During this whole commotion a lot of people were discussing about who the hacker was, how he was doing it, why he was doing it. Among these people were Meteor, Erodez, ArmoredFist, and Kayden. While Meteor and Kayden were saying the hacker could be using a bot, Armored and Ero insisted it was not a bot. This led Meteor to a suspicion later on. Either way after a few days Erodez was banned. This was because they found that Erodez posted from the same IP as the KiritoRape accounts. Obviously the fanboys said that there was no way Ero was KR because… idk because he wouldn’t do it. The fanboys literally said nothing useful. Meteor when seeing this looked at the evidence and arrived at the conclusion that Ero was indeed KiritoRape since they had the same IP, and he thought that Ero insulting KiritoRape was just a technique to better disguise himself. But Ero went to Aika and said “It wasn’t me. It was a friend at my school. I told him to stop doing it so don’t worry, he won’t show up her again” This sounded a little too convenient for Meteor, so his skepticism remained. Thus Meteor said on Disqus that Erodez should remain banned because the evidence pointed to him be the mystery hacker. But eventually Ero was unbanned. But he then went to the KA forums and showed a bunch of insulting and arguments Meteor was having on Disqus, which would ultimately lead to Meteor’s ultimatum. But again, I will go to that later. To this day it is still unknown whether Ero was using the blanks or not. So was Erodez KiritoRape all along? That question is up to the reader’s interpretation. NOT! Several months later there was another major drama involving Erodez (which I will explain in detail later), and Erodez was IP banned. And this time Erodez confessed to EVERYTHING. He made flag bots, he group upvoted, and even admitted that he was KiritoRape all along! My, my, so Meteor was right! It was exactly as Meteor had called it! Meteor’s objective analysis of the situation that took into account all the variables and even the possibility of Erodez trying to cover up the situation by pretending he was not the perpetrator during the act was right all along! But of course, the masses did not listen to Meteor while the KiritoRape incident was happening. They never do, and why should they? Following the majority is obviously the correct path. Who cares about actually looking at evidence and critically analyzing it like Meteor did in order to conclude correctly that Erodez was the perpetrator? If most people believe it, then it must be true no? This logically incoherent mob mentality that most people in KA have led to them rooting for the wrong side in almost all the occasions where the community was split. That will become even more prevalent in future controversies. 15 – Ambitious Sociopath - Sylar -------------------------------------------------------- One very influential man was Sylar. Sylar came with the first wave of TCs but was one of the last ones to show up. An important thing to note is that Sylar is a sociopath. He barely shows his true feelings and is extremely cold. When he gets angry he can be even more ruthless than Meteor. But Sylar always had a special characteristic that made him stand out from the rest. He truly cared about upvotes and getting the top comment, almost to the point of obsession. But this was a sudden change in him. At first Sylar did not give a fuck. In fact he did not even realize that he was a top commenter. When Sylar surpassed Meteor in the TC list with his first account, Meteor told Sylar that he had surpassed him, and Sylar’s reaction was something along the lines of “wow I didn’t even realize I was a top commenter.” But that attitude rapidly changed. When Sylar started hanging out with Nom, Kayden, Ella, and the rest of the crew, he would make skype messages along the lines of “who’s going to comment on *insert anime here*?” or “You guys think I can get top comment in *insert anime here*?” It was clear that Sylar began caring about getting the top comment and climbing up the ranks as a top commenter quite a bit. Sylar was also a whore. No, he didn’t literally have sex for money or have an asshole wide enough to fit a soccer ball inside, he was a whore for followers. Since Sylar joined KA several months after most of the TCs, he had far less followers. And as we have already seen, Sylar is a jealous man. He craves for popularity. So he started whoring himself for followers by making a status asking for followers that said “Will suck for followers.” While this may not sound like much, simply having the word “followers” in his bio with a follow button right next to it affects the masses and tricks them into following him more. A plan so genius it is almost scary. But by doing this Sylar still lost a part of his dignity. Eventually once Sylar became the 4th ranked TC he stopped caring as much about being a TC, but when Erodez surpassed him he got jealous. Sylar might deny this if you ask him, but the truth is that he got f*cking jealous of Ero. But even more than that, Sylar was tempted to return. When V-Kun called Sylar “A dead commenter” Sylar became even more jealous and got angry at the how people could consider him “dead”. And so Sylar returned, but this time he needed to come back stronger or he wouldn’t be able to go up in the TC rank, since competition was fiercer now. And so what did Sylar do? He followed the good old saying, “If you can’t beat them, join them!” And so Sylar climbed the ranks by hanging around with the Erodez Gang and eventually became THE #1 top commenter in all of KA. But this happened halfway through spring, more will be mentioned about Sylar’s thirst for upvotes in Act III. But throughout all of this no one realized that Sylar had fooled everyone all along with a brilliant master plan comparable to the likes of Yagami Light or Lelouch vi Britannia. More about this will be discussed in Part 3 however, since not enough backstory has been given regarding the victims of Sylar’s revelation. An important thing to note is that Sylar’s comments were never really aids. There were the occasional off-topic conversations, and there were a few cringeworthy comments with hints of weeaboo to them, but they were never full-on aids. Sylar might have lost some of his dignity due to some things he did, but his comments were normally clever or funny. But that is enough about Sylar. More about Sylar’s loss of dignity (or was it?) will come with the chapter about inbox rapes. Now onto the misunderstood harsh mod, whose abundance of activity is what triggered the hatred for her. 16 – The harsh and hated mod – Ella -------------------------------------------------------- If you remember correctly, there was a wave of moderators that came along to help stop the spam. One of the people who was chosen as a mod was Ella, or as she is more commonly known, EmElla. What put Ella aside from the other mods was how active and dedicated she was. Everywhere problematic place you went on KA, the ones to fix it would almost always be Aika or Ella. But you might be thinking, “So what? If she was more active than others then she would be the ‘The liked mod’, not ‘The hated mod’, so why does the title of this chapter make no sense?!” Easy there cowboy, I will explain. The difference is simple: Ella is harsh. She doesn’t care about your excuses, she doesn’t care if you promise never to do it again. Rules are rules, break them and you’ll be killed, mercilessly. Thus most of the bans were caused by Ella, since she was more active, and harsher than others. Which was a good thing, since she was getting rid of all the aids. But don’t forget, that KA itself is aids. Since KA is aids, most users don’t care about clever jokes or good discussions. They care about spamming and chatting like the comments were facebook, so when a mod shows up and ruins their fun, they get butthurt. This was primarily evident in the few hours before an episode came out. During this time you would get people spamming “Where the hell is the episode? It was supposed to be here in *made up bullshit number* hours ago!” And what did Ella do? The logical thing, AKA kill all the spammers. Not only that, Ella would feature comments along the lines of “We do not know when the episode will come out. The spamming has gone too far, for now spamming will be instant ban. Comments such as ‘Lets hit 2000 comments’ will not be tolerated.” Wonderful, no more aids right? Wrong! Due to the predominant aids in KA, instead of praising the mods for deleting all the spam, they would instead say “WTF is this mod saying, I spam if I wanna spam.” Or “This mod is retarded, why would you ban people for having conversations in anime comments? LOL” and so forth. She even got accused of abusing power, when in reality she was only being harsh. So instead of getting praised for doing her job actively and assertively the way it is supposed to be done, Ella instead got most of the hate from the community, excluding the hate Aika got of course. However Ella never lost her dignity. No matter what the masses might think, Ella always did her job the way she was supposed to, and never abused power. 17 – The Prime Example of Weeaboo – Kayden -------------------------------------------------------- There is this kid on KA. His username is Kayden. For those of you who don’t know Kayden is a filthy, disgusting, basement dwelling weeaboo. He has a katana collection that occupies the majority of his room and his relatives’ room. He also has 36 body pillows consisting of several of his waifu which include Rias from DxD, Nami from OP, Lucy from FT, Sasuke from Naruto, Coco from BnP, and every single K-On character. Oh wait that last one is actually Raishi, never mind. Anyway Kayden started making comments pretty early on but he only became relevant near the end of the summer season and start of the fall season. Until he joined the rest of the first wave of TCs he was more of just a standalone commenter. But he wasn’t your everyday commenter. Kayden was born and will die as a spammer and a troll. In order to get a proper understanding of the extent of Kayden’s spam, one must compare his comments at the peak of his spam to those of a regular TC at the time. Thus Kayden’s comments will be contrasted with Meteor’s comments. A few weeks after Meteor joined the skype chat with the first wave of TCs, he decided to compare his upvote-comment ratio to Kayden’s upvote-comment ratio. But the surprising thing was not Kayden’s deplorable ratio, rather it was the amount of comments. While Meteor had been a top commenter since day 1, Kayden was not. Yet Meteor had less than 2000 comments, and Kayden’s comments were near the 8000 mark. A few TCs had more comments than Kayden, they were Kazu, Synergy, and Guya. However Synergy had about twice as many upvotes as he did comments, suggesting that he actually made productive comments, and same with Guya. Kayden on the other hand had LESS upvotes than he did comments, suggesting that his comments were actually complete shit and obvious spam. Kayden also almost only posted comments on the hyper-mainstream anime. So basically if you go watch One Piece, Naruto, Gintama, or Fairy Tail, you will probably find comments from Kayden on every single episode. Remember how the first wave of TCs would make extremely long derailed threads filled with inside jokes and spam? While all of them did participate in it, almost every time the spam would be started by Kayden. Kayden would make some type of short provocative comment to one of his friends, they would retaliate, and it would keep on being a chain of stupid inside jokes that are only funny if you’re in on the joke. If you aren’t, then GTFO you fucking pleb. Kayden would even get Meteor in on the jokes. When Meteor recommended Hajime no Ippo to Kayden, Kayden would reply to several comments Meteor made with dumb shit along the lines of, “Meteor’s failed attempt at being cool.” A comment obviously made to tempt Meteor to strike back. Unfortunately Meteor fell for these baits. This is because Kayden is a troll. However Meteor repeatedly fell for Kayden’s trolls despite constantly trying not to fall for them. Almost like a slapstick comedy anime scene. Kayden was also constantly trying to learn Japanese and read hiragana, katakana, and Kanji or whatever they’re called, making it obvious that Kayden is a fucking filthy basement dwelling weeaboo. And despite all these weeaboos signs, Kayden always denied that he was a weeaboo. Thus whoever is reading this should start calling Kayden a weeaboo. If everyone calls Kayden a weeaboo, then soon enough he will accept that he is one. Overall Kayden might look like a cool guy, but in reality he is a weeaboo, a troll, and a spammer. Thus he is anti-ka. Nowadays Kayden makes far less posts and is slightly more civilized, but he is still a weeaboo, a troll, and a spammer nonetheless. 18 – Consistency – Synergy -------------------------------------------------------- Despite me not mentioning Syn much throughout the essay, he is certainly influential. In fact, he was the top commenter for most of KA’s history. Now you might ask yourself, what’s so special about Synergy that he ends up being the number 1 commenter? The answer is simple: Nothing. I’m not joking. There is nothing about Synergy that stands out besides his large amount of comments. Yet he has a 3 UCR (upvotes to comment ratio. Yes I did just make that up) and is the top commenter. How can someone like him not have any traits that stand out? Is it maybe because he is a mod? But Aika has been a mod for longer yet has far less upvotes. So what is it? Synergy’s comments are simple, but at the same time clever enough to warrant a fair amount of upvotes. Syn’s comments generally talk about a specific scene in the episode, but at the same time also say something general about the episode or show. And the personality that you get off of reading Syn’s comments is always a relatively cheerful but not overly excited one. And while they are general, they are not overly long or too short. They also have normal formatting which makes them seem real and not automated attempts at getting the top comment, which also prevents them from becoming repetitive unlike Gin who made similar but at the same time very different comments. Therefore most could probably agree that most of Syn’s comments deserve at least a few upvotes. But is that all there is to Syn’s success? No, the key to Syn’s success is his consistency. His comments are always average if not above average. In fact I don’t think I recall ever seeing a single comment of Syn’s that was aids in the slightest. And so when Syn makes 15000 of these comments that are good and actually seem like natural flowing opinions, he ends up having a very high upvote ratio, and that is the key to Syn’s success. Not to mention that Syn is also a mod which always helps in getting some upvotes from ass kissers and “Notice me Senpai” type people. To this day, Syn’s comments have not changed. He remains the same Syn as always who consistently makes good comments and bothers no one. Syn has also never broken any rules or relied on cheap strategies to climb up the top commenters list. And it is for these reasons that Syn is one of the very few people who have retained their dignity to this day, and for that, Syn deserves my respect. 19 – Never changing – Kazuto -------------------------------------------------------- So I honestly don’t have much to say about Kazu’s influence because not that many people care about Kazu, nor do I even remember why I made an entire chapter for Kazu and didn’t just put him in the honorable mentions but I will make this chapter anyway. Kazu is a nice guy in terms of his personality. There isn’t really anyone who hates Kazu, I mean seriously how can you hate the guy? Either way Kazu’s comments are honestly not that good. A simple look at Kazu’s profile will tell you that, he has 11k comments yet only has 11k upvotes. Not exactly an impressive ratio. Kazu’s comments themselves are not that special either. Basically they’re just average and not impressive at all. The only reason why Kazu spent so much time on the Top commenters list is because he made so many comments and was in KA since the beginning, and in the earlier days of Disqus the TC rankings were based on comments rather than upvotes which is why there was never much blanking or group upvoting back in the day. However Kazu was in the TC list for a very long time, and for that reason Kazu gained a large followers list, he has about 3k at the time of this essay which is a relatively impressive number. The best thing about Kazu is that as the title of this chapter implies, Kazu never changed. From the beginning to the end Kazu was always the same innocent guy making the same regular comments after watching some good ol’ animu. And Kazu never did anything bad. He didn’t blank, group upvote, inbox rape, flame, nothing really. He did make some off-topic comments back in the early Chibi Crew days, but nothing worthy of being called Anti-KA. However Kazu didn’t do enough to be called Pro-KA either. Thus my judgment on Kazu stays at a neutral stance of Neutral-KA. The only unfortunate thing is that Mr. Kazu stopped showing up on Skype recently. All of a sudden everyone’s favorite Latino vanished from said platform and now shows up on KA, the forums, and WonderfulSubs as well. But unfortunately he completely vanished from Skype where he, Meteor, and so many others had many good moments. So to everyone’s favorite Latino, I make an appeal: Come back to Skype. We miss you. I know you’re reading this so come back already. Or at least explain to us why you haven’t come back. I will leave an editable place here to see whether Kazu has come back or not, once he does I will change it to a positive. If he never does then I won’t. Kazu return status: Negative. 20 – The TC strategist – Gin -------------------------------------------------------- I already mentioned Gin slightly in Syn’s chapter, but I will talk about him in more detail here. While Gin joined KA shortly after Disqus began, Meteor never even noticed his existence until the beginning of the fall season. But near the winter season or so Gin became far more active. Gin’s comments were very different from most, particularly due to the way he formatted them. Instead of writing a normal comment like everyone else, Gin would write short sentences talking about things he enjoyed about the episode. Since most of these things are general things that most people can relate to, he would get upvotes for doing so. However these short sentences would be indented with an empty paragraph in between and everything. I will showcase what I mean by pretending to be Gin and writing a comment about a random Death Note episode: “Light is such a badass I love his genius moments :P 5:36 The noise Mello’s chocolate makes is so loud lol. I don’t like Near, L was much better. Hm that Misa moment was hot ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) This new OP is awesome. Whoa that plot twist at the end, looking forward to next episode!” Granted, if I was actually Gin each sentence would have a bit more elaboration and crack a slight joke or too, but this was the general formatting. He would have 1 maybe 2 sentences about something he liked about a character, often characteristics that almost everyone enjoys giving a feeling of relatability. He would often put the time in which a funny scene occurs in the episode for people to go back to that part of the episode which ends up giving a false sense that the comment is funny, when in reality what was funny was that moment in the episode. Gin also often mentions the OP or ED in most comments that he writes in this format, and would often make a slightly perverted joke and insert a lenny face. Now you might be wondering “Wait, isn’t that similar to what Synergy does? Make comments that people can relate to? Then why is Gin worse?” The reason for this is that Gin’s comments almost look automated with the same format and trends in every comment. If one didn’t know better, one could almost assume that Gin was a bot. The comments always have the same format, and talk about similar things except they are about a specific episode. Think of it this way, why is Inaho from Aldnoah a badly written character? Because he is not relatable as a human, he does not have flaws and barely shows emotion. Almost like a robot, before going to war he is instead thinking about his pajamas and cares little about human lives. Here it is similar. While Synergy makes regularly structured comments that seem normal while at the same time relatable, Gin’s comments are structured in the way that captures the most attention and don’t seem like the type of comment that a regular person would make. And because of this, they very quickly become repetitive and dull. But just like Inaho in Aldnoah, the plebs still love Gin despite the obvious problems, because they don’t know any better. But even more than the structure of his comments themselves, Gin had lots of help from others in order to often get top comments. Gin eventually joined Erodez and the others and thus would get upvotes from them every episode giving him a head start. Also, Gin would upvote all the random plebs he could find because that way, they would upvote him back. Not only that, Gin would also downvote the other top comments in order to place his comment above theirs. Gin was basically a top comment machine, if he wanted to get top comment he would get it with barely any effort in fact. He knew exactly what he had to do to get top comment and would do it with ease. Until a certain obstacle appeared and made his life harder, but more on that later. But despite being very good at getting top comments, Gin is anti-KA because his comments themselves lacked substance, and he would get upvotes from his friends and would downvote the competition, which is of course against the rules. Not to mention the idiotic things he did later on that ultimately lead to his ban. 21 – The Charitable one – BOBIN -------------------------------------------------------- Bobin’s influence is not marked by his comments themselves, but a trend that he started. The first time Meteor saw Bobin was when he was on Skype like always, and someone in the group said “WTF this guy upvoted a ton of my comments!” and posted a screenshot of his notification feed that was filled with nothing but upvotes from the same guy, all on different comments. That guy was Bobin. And after a while more and more people claimed that Bobin was upvoting a ton of their comments. After a while, Alaa added Bobin to one of the Skype groups. Then everyone found out that Bobin just did this because he wanted to. He would look at someone’s general comments and think “Oh, I like this person and the comments they make,” and so he upvotes like 200 of their comments. Sort of like retweeting every tweet of your favorite celebrities I guess. Eventually Bobin started doing this to many people. Having Bobin constantly upvote your comments became the norm rather than the exception. People began calling it “Inbox Raping” since when someone checks their inbox they can see nothing but several hundred upvotes from the same person, so it is as if their inbox was raped (The name is pretty self-explanatory, but whatever). At this time everything was fine since Bobin was the only one doing it and no one really cared. The problem occurred when more people started doing it. After a while countless commenters were inbox raping each other. The conversations would go something like this (let’s use some already banned people as an example): Nexus – Bobin can you rape me? I’m almost at 13k. Bobin – Sure. 5 minutes later… Bobin – Done, you’re in the 13k club now. Nexus – Thanks Bobin :D As one can see, through these incredibly simple conversations one can easily get hundreds if not thousands of upvotes each time, making it an obvious exploit and abuse of the system itself. This trend made many people skyrocket up the TC list and quickly get to the top, like V-Kun for instance. But the problem with inbox raping is that these people quickly get to the top of the top commenters list without really deserving those places. And with almost all their comments having upvotes from those who inbox raped them, it becomes almost impossible for people who don’t inbox rape to get top comment. While Bobin is a nice guy who did nothing more than spread his love for Disqus commenters by upvoting many of their comments, his actions ultimately led to him accidentally creating an army of dozens of upvote abusers. And for this he must be considered someone who lost his dignity by destroying many comment sections in KA, even if that was never his original intention. There are far more things to discuss regarding inbox rapes, but these things shall be addressed later since they are related to the later implemented upvote rules and The Purge. 22 – The massive TC Wave – Erodez’s Gang, ERVAH (Raishi, V-Kun, ArmoredFist, HR, Rika, and Wolf) -------------------------------------------------------- Introduction – This was a group of people that would always hang out together both in the comment sections and Skype, and Erodez was basically the leader of the group. Eventually they made the group official and called it ERVAH, which stands for Erodez, Raishi, V-Kun, ArmoredFist, and HR. Also judgment of ERVAH members will not happen here but rather in Act 3 since I wouldn’t want to spoil here exactly what happened. Raishi – V-Kun – ArmoredFist – HR – Rika – Wolf – His username was SilentWolf, and as the name implies, he was pretty silent. He mainly just replied to others and group upvoted them. Basically the quiet one of the group who got to the top by hanging around with the big shots. Not much else about him stood out, he only reached the top because of group upvoting. 23 – Honorable Mentions – Those still important despite lack of impact. -------------------------------------------------------- Emii – This person according to Kayden, “Changed his name 1698014 times.” Emii made a shitload of comments, I do believe more than Syn at one point. However most of Emii’s comments were quite frankly pure AIDS. Also had really weird formatting, which consisted of very short phrases. Emii eventually got banned, made another account, lasted a while, and then became inactive. Emii also had this thing with the number 16.5 for a while, which is probably because of chapter 16.5 in the SAO LN, where Kirito and Asuna have sex or something. Or at least that seems like the most plausible guess. Either way, Emii is obviously Anti-KA. Dormin – An enlightened man with good critical thinking skills and knowledge of what makes a story good. All that is useless if one does not put them to good use in his comments, but fortunately Dormin does exactly that and makes clever comments every time. He often goes against the majority opinion but manages to get upvotes anyway. As he says in his bio, he “likes to hate on things.” And he can often crack a nice joke or two. Overall Dormin is a good commenter and is Pro-KA Ryozuo – LOL this girl. So Ryozuo was a regular top commenter who made regular comments that would often receive upvotes. She once tried to join the Meteor vs WickedEye fight, only she was 4 days late and Aika had already stopped the argument. Eventually Kayden invited her to the Skype chat known as the “Pleb Society” which was just a Skype chat that was open to more people besides the Chibi Crew members. She seemed alright and what not and was eventually added to a call with several people, though at the time Meteor did not participate in calls because his microphone had the sound quality of an eggplant (because I’m too hipster to say potato). So in one of these Skype calls that Meteor wasn’t in she started talking shit about Meteor behind his back, and of course she thought she would be fine. But during this whole time the rest of the members like Sylar and Kayden were practically livestreaming everything to Meteor in a separate chat by typing exactly what she was saying about him. Meteor wasn’t too bothered by any of this, but he also wasn’t just going to forget this. So a few days later Meteor started up a fight with “The King of KissCartoon” (whose identity will be revealed later) about how that title was completely pointless. But then who randomly shows up? That’s right, Ryozuo! And she started talking shit again about how the “King” was allowed to give himself whatever title he so pleased and that it was none of Meteor’s business. As the debate got more heated Meteor eventually brought up how Ryozuo was just being a drama queen by not only going against Meteor in anything she could, but by talking trash behind his back. Claims that she then denied! Ryozuo actually tried denying that she talked shit about Meteor, even though the other members of the call were telling Meteor exactly what she was saying, as she was saying it! So of course Meteor called Ryozuo out on her bullshit by telling her that she was a two-faced bitch and that the people in the call told him all that happened. To which Ryozuo then replied with the good old, “Oh I didn’t mean it like that, I’m really sorry if I offended you, I mean that! I hope you’ll forgive me!” A phrase said so many times in the history of mankind that it has almost lost its meaning. So Meteor just ended up giving her a “Whatever you say” attitude and ending the debate, if it could even be called such a thing. Ryozuo was then kicked from the Pleb Society and Ella sent her a nice little poem about how the chibi crew didn’t give a shit about her. She later tried sending a big elaborate apology to Meteor, which he of course cared close to nothing about but accepted regardless due to courtesy and willingness from her part. But I digress. After all this has close to nothing to do with the fall of KA, it’s just a short funny anecdote and will have no bearing on her judgment. Overall the majority of Ryozuo’s comments are alright even though they don’t particularly stand out. But she also likes to be a drama queen and do things such as joining flame wars or even sparking them because someone edited their comment so now it will look like she plagiarized the original commenter. But overall Ryozuo is Neutral-KA and nowadays her beef with Meteor has been forgotten and neither side still cares about it or takes any of what happened personally (I think). Kuromi – During the early days of Disqus she was the number 2 top commenter behind Vivid. Occasionally she would be the top ranked but go back to 2nd rank shortly after. Her comments themselves were alright, but they were very inferior to Vivid’s and they weren’t really top commenter material. The only reason for her being a top commenter is that during her time as TC the top commenters were ranked by comments rather than upvotes. Nevertheless Kuromi’s comments weren’t bad, so she is Neutral-KA. Tatsuya Shiba – I honestly don’t remember much about Tatsuya. Sylar calls him Towel on Skype, and even after all this time I still don’t know how that began. Anyway, Tatsuya was one of the OG members of the Chibi Crew and was a major top commenter back in the day. Nowadays he is dead. He was the first person to call people out on blanks, which he did by calling Guya out on the suspicious accounts upvoting him. While Tatsuya made some alright comments he also made a lot of off-topic ones, so I would consider him Neutral-KA. Ramzan Akikhiko – A Jihadist that is a massive pleb. Never made any clever comments. Probably one of the first people to get banned from KA, back during the early Guya troublemaking days he spread AIDS everywhere by making 30+ comment reply chains with Guya that consisted of nothing but “Indeed.” Ram is obviously a massive pleb and Anti-KA, nothing else to say here. Alaa – Joey Rothwell – Thomas Barnett – Daedrick Arrow/Chibi Sora/Hero of Time – This guy has too many names honestly. All of which stem from him being banned something like 4 times if not more. Originally Meteor never liked him. He would make posts with horrific grammar and would make dumb claims like “High School of the Dead is better than Kill la Kill because the ecchi in HOTD is better” and then when someone pointed that out his spelling errors he would just say “I’m dislexic” which greatly annoyed Meteor since he believes that one should strive to be a better person regardless of their disabilities rather than use them as an excuse. Anyway eventually Daedrick Arrow got banned, and so he made his new account Chibi Sora during the prime of the Guya days. And he pretty much followed Guya’s example with his overly vulgar comments making him even more anti-KA. And eventually got banned again. So he made another account still called Chibi Sora. And that one got banned as well. So he made a 4thaccount called Hero of Time! And this one still hasn’t been banned. But it shouldn’t be too long since this guy likes getting into trouble. Oh and this guy is also Thomas Barnett’s brother. Either way Chibi Sora is anti-ka. C.C. – Tranquility/Kotone – Zero/Zero1 – Trap God – Deidara – Oh this guy, funny stuff indeed. He used to make pretty good comments, they would be funny and witty and he would get what appeared to be rightful upvotes. So after Meteor became a mod, someone approached him and said he suspected Deidara of blanking. Meteor of course laughed this off and thought it wasn’t possible. But since Meteor does do his job, he investigated this claim and found out that Deidara truly did have a blank, known as PrePre94! Then as he investigated further he found that Deidara actually had 4 blanks! This of course made Meteor very disappointed because he thought that Deidara was receiving upvotes that he deserved, but in reality he was not. In fact Deidara was at a whole new level of sad, he would even reply to his own comments using his blanks and compliment himself. On one occasion Deidara made a comment with his main account and then replied to himself with his blank saying “LOL, You win the Internet xD” which is incredibly sad. So after Meteor collected more than enough evidence, Deidara was banned for blanking from both KissAnime and KissManga and had all of his comments deleted, and was never seen on KissAnime again. trendyanimecharactername – Kirito Kirigaya – Can be found literally everywhere. If you have looked at the KA comment section, you have most likely seen him. In fact it’s almost impossible that you haven’t seen him. He makes a lot of comments and in a large variety of anime so you get plenty of people that talk about how the guy is just everywhere. His comments themselves are meh, he has some good ones and some AIDS comments. Thus he is Neutral-KA. Nomzer/Currymuncher69 – Goku’s penis – Quite literally the king of off-topic and spam. Most of his comments are 100% pure aids honestly, he just says a bunch of random bullshit in the most confusing way possible, makes gross perverted jokes every chance he gets, puts a lenny face in almost every comment, and spams a shit ton. Honestly how he did not get banned 2 days into his registration is a mystery. But eventually when Meteor became a mod he finally got banned. He was annoying as hell too, kept annoying Meteor on Skype about how his ban was unfair (Despite him literally being the biggest spammer on KA). Then he even started talking to Meteor about how he wrote books about vampires and got sued because some guy considered it plagiarism or something. Probably one of the weirdest conversations Meteor ever had on Skype. Either way the AIDS in Goku’s penis’s comments were so great that not judging him as Anti-KA would be insulting. D-Sama – Nico – A guy who showed up pretty late near winter or spring, and he got a lot of upvotes. Then Ella found he was blanking and banned him. Then he made a second account. And he then got banned again for blanking. A dumb kid who didn’t learn. His comments were pretty AIDS too, he is definitely Anti-KA. Nexus – iRoNiC anime – He is everywhere and his comments are pure aids. He got to the top by spamming and replying to top comments and feeding off of them with aids comments. You’d expect aids comments to get no upvotes, but the truth is that almost all replies to top comments get upvotes in some way or another, even if it’s just 3 or so upvotes. Combine that with iRoNiC anime upvoting every single one of his own comments, and you get a lousy aids top commenter. He is still alive today but remains Anti-ka. Gentto – This was a cool guy who made clever and funny comments. Even had a nice little joke bio. He was pretty active, but eventually he just disappeared and never showed up again. Quite a shame since the comments were good stuff. Gentto was therefore Pro-KA. Captain Cannabis – Captain upvotes a lot of people and very frequently, so he was once suspected of group upvoting but in reality he is just someone who is very active. His comments themselves are ok, but nothing noteworthy. Never really broke any rules, and he’s a cool guy. Overall Captain is an ok guy, deserving of the rank of Neutral-KA. Christa Lucifer – This person quite literally has the best upvote to comment ratio in all of KA. Almost all their comments have 200+ upvotes, it’s incredibly impressive honestly. And fortunately they are all good comments, thus Christa Lucifer is Pro-KA. Akil – Akil was pretty relevant at the start of KA. He had plenty of comments and thus was one of the top commenters at the website, but his comments were absolutely atrocious and filled with AIDS. Not to mention that he would make about a dozen comments every episode, which I wouldn’t mind that much as long as they were good. But they were shit. But fortunately Akil eventually left KA pretty much for good and migrated to KissCartoon, the website no one ever goes to or gives a shit about. And since he commented everywhere and upvoted his own comments he quickly became number 1 in KC. Good for him I guess. But this pleb was not simply happy with that, he wanted to rub it in everyone’s face so he changed his bio to “King of KissCartoon” which is laughable. In fact Meteor could not stop laughing when he saw this. So Meteor replied to Akil saying that bragging about being the King of KissCartoon is like bragging that you are the CEO of Texas Tractor Inc a 2 person company that sells 4 tractors a year, because no one gives a shit if you are the CEO of such a crappy company. That wasn’t the exact analogy but it was something along those lines. Akil never responded, but Ryozuo did! And that was what led to the discussion already talked about in Ryozuo’s part. Akil remains Anti-KA.
